“Of course Shizun means it,” Luo Binghe says, and oh, the words come out a bit numbly. He only just manages to stop himself from saying the next part aloud: He’s just mistaken.
(Of course he knows, of course everyone knows—the distasteful thing at the heart of Luo Binghe, the rotten core of him. His Shizun’s capacity for loving mercy knows no bounds; that doesn’t mean he, too, doesn’t know.)
