But he couldn’t stop thinking of the way Al-Hashimi and Jack exchanged glances, the charming smirks and quiet understandings between two battered souls who’d survived the same hell and back, or how Dr. Mohan smiled at Jack, small and intimate, adoration spilling over from her gentle gaze.

    Robby looked back at his own haggard reflection in the mirror, water dripping down his chin, bags under his eyes.
