Peter blinked, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. She wasn’t even looking at him, her focus on the bar’s mirrored wall. But he could see the tension in her shoulders, the way her fingers were tapping against her glass a little too forcefully.
"You want to repeat that, Rose?" he murmured under his breath, pretending to take another sip of his drink.
"Oh, I think you heard me just fine, Peter," she shot back.
