Nathaniel Wesninski was sixteen years old now. With his mother dead and his father reigning as the Butcher side by side the head of the Moriyama family, he lived as a Raven. The Nest stripped people down to their worst qualities. It made the Ravens desperate to prove themselves to Riko Moriyama and the Master because if the number on their jersey was less than ten then there was no reason to be called by name. Only a number. Skill. Weakness. Others could take the number from someone if they were good for it and that had been what they were trying to do with him and his partner, Jean Moreau. Take their numbers and their name until they're reduced to nothing. It didn't matter if they had numbers on their cheekbone. "If you're wondering about the money, it isn't stolen. I won it at a game. It isn't my fault people don't know how to play poker." He rested his chin on the palm of his hand, dark eyes scanning the drinks behind Andrew and Kevin, then flicked over to them and with a small smile—one that didn't look entirely right on his face—he requested, "I'll have a soda."

Andrew spots Neil first and hands off the shaker and the glass to Kevin. “Twice in one week,” he says as he approaches to stand across from Neil. “The soda isn’t that good here.”
Neil hums, his gaze tracking Andrew’s movements as he places a glass in front of him and pops open the tab to the soda can, the fizzle drowning beneath the lessening chatter and the melody of Allison’s voice as she sings. “Would you believe me if I said it’s not the soda I’m coming back for?”
“Not a chance,” Kevin says from across the bar, pouring pink colored liquid into the cup and drops a lime into it, handing it off to a woman who exchanges the drink for another few bills as a thank you. “You cause trouble wherever you go. This is a refined establishment, you know.”

Dan and Matt are a couple and getting them both to agree to pretend to date me would be harder. Renee doesn’t like men. Katelyn is lovely but Aaron would be angry. I don’t know which of the others started or stopped dating over the summer. That leaves you."
“What about Kevin?”
Jean scoffs. “You cannot be serious.”
“He’s…” What is Kevin? Not any better at telling Riko ‘no’ than Jean is, and, subsequently, probably not great at lying to him. Also, is it really believable that Kevin would jeopardize the team and their athletic careers by shitting where he eats? Probably not. Kevin’s amended hierarchy of needs just has the word EXY at the base. Somewhere far above that are pedestrian concerns like ‘food’ and ‘water’ and ‘shelter.’
