But Maurer only stared at Taeui as if he were an idiot. Taeui scowled at Maurer’s stupid look, tempted to hit him over the head.
“God, how stupid do you think we are? Everybody knows that you practically have Rick on a leash now,” Maurer said, shaking his head almost in incredulity over his own words.
OR: In which Ilay Riegrow concludes early on that the most efficient way to make Jeong Taeui his.....is to become his lover. Yet somehow, it takes the entire UNHRDO branch to figure out before him and a week-long vacation to the Netherlands for Taeui to realize that they're dating.

The presence grew stronger as he walked through the door to the kitchen, as he rounded the corner to look, he stopped in his tracks. It was Taeui, and he heaved as if he was running back here. His face was flushed red, Taeui wiped his mouth with the back of his hand as he opened the fridge to grab a refreshing beer.
Ilay tipped his head to the side and watched Taeui, waiting for him to settle down. As he passed by Ilay to get to the living room, he felt it.
A new strong scent was clinging to Taeui. It felt like a mix of sea breeze and an underlying tone of… herbs.
