Their eyes meet, and Renjun can’t help but blush at being caught in the act of staring. Isn’t it natural to be curious about a creature you thought only existed in fairytales? Wouldn’t it be weirder not to be curious?
Renjun studies marine biology. If you think of it that way, his interest in Jaemin’s body is purely academic. “A little,” he admits.
(On a quiet summer day, Renjun finds out quite abruptly that mermen are real. And that he might be attracted to one of them in particular. That merman might also be trying to marry him, but that's a separate issue for now.)

the effect this fic has had on me is monumental. this was something so precious to me and my best friend and we still talk about it to this day. this holds a place in my heart as my favourite fic of all time. i feel i say that a lot but truly nothing has ever touched me like this fic has. captain haechan and admiral mark lee live their happily ever after in my head forever and always and i don’t think they’ll ever leave

Summary
Hidden behind glass skyscrapers and sky high shopping malls lies Inner Neo City.
With more bars than schools, houses that look like jails, barely any actual greenery, and most of it's buildings covered in graffiti, Neo City is an urban wasteland of an place: it's badly managed, underfunded, overpopulated, a breeding ground for political unrest and teenage rebellion, and, well, kinda dirty - but hey, at least it's theirs.
And when things get really bad you can pop into SunShine Meals Foodtruck for some hotteok, or annoy Doyoung at Kim's Convenience. You can hang out with Johnny and Jaehyun at The Night Night Barcade, the ultimate hangout spot for the youth here in Inner Neo City, and The Lionheart salon's employees are always open for a good old gossip session.
If it's art you want, look no further than the streets, where you'll see painting upon painting (almost always signed with the letters 'HR'), and when you're looking for a particularly good time you can even check in with Taeil and pester him for drinks, as long as you have an ID on you - and eventually, everything'll be okay.
Inner Neo City isn't much, but it's there, and it's theirs, and frankly that's all that matters.
