He’s going to let her down gently because the poor woman is just lying to herself that they’re more than what they are and he’s more than who he is. He’s just a guy she’s sleeping with, a guy that raises her son and takes care of her home and is a nanny but not really. Scaramouche does gardening and plumbing and other things for free, but not really, too.
Cleaning the kitchen counters until they squeak, he would never be able to do domesticity, Scaramouche thinks.
