"Hmm... Let me think," he says, looking up from his locker, "Oh I know, it might have something to do with the fact that you haven't spoken a single word to me since the summer before freshman year."
Ashton Irwin is an unpopular Junior in high school with a passion for photography and drumming. He goes through everyday with his best friend, Luke Hemmings, at his side. Luke actually happens to be in a secret relationship with the most popular boy in school, Michael Clifford. Coincidentally, Michael's equally popular best friend just so happens to be Ashton's ex-best friend, Calum Hood.

Summary
All he knows was that he felt angry and small and patronized, and he'd just grabbed his guitar case and stood up. He doesn't remember walking out, but he does remember the street that raced ahead of him, into the distance. He remembers Michael's house at his back, and the sickening, nauseating feeling, the knowledge that he wasn't going to come back. That now, he couldn't come back.
(Or, if Luke quit the band before it ever began, and moves to America for university, where he meets Niall and Ashton. And, maybe, just maybe--there's such thing as a second chance, and love at second sight.)

Michael smiles while the lanky, baby blue-eyed, blonde boy rambles about his hatred for Gatsby. He doesn't even realize it but he basically verbally wrote his essay outline. Luke's not an idiot and Michael knows it.
When Luke finishes ranting Michael replies, "You know, you just told me your outline."
Luke looks at him in confusion. "What? No, how?"
"You first told me your stance which is your thesis. Then you gave me evidence which is your body paragraphs. All you need is quotes from the text and analysis, then, boom, you have an essay," Michael answers with a smile.
Luke groans and places his head in his hands. "I'm so fucking stupid. How did I not realize that?"
Michael frowns. Luke's not stupid.

“Yeah?” The boy asked, looking at Luke over their computer screens.
“Who’s that?” he asked, his head nodding in the direction the boy was stood.
“Who?” Ashton wanted to know, squinting his eyes a bit and Luke swore that boy needed glasses.
“The guy who is talking to Mister Wilson.” Luke whispered back, his eyes on the attractive, but slightly arrogant looking boy.
“Oh, that’s Mister Hood’s son, Calum.”
“You mean the guy who owns twenty-five percent of the company?” Luke gawked at the boy. He had heard about him once or twice; the boy had to be filthy rich and he couldn’t be much older than Ashton. Luke had never seen him before because apparently he had been on multiple business trips the last two months. It would’ve been nice if someone had warned him his boss was this hot though.Or one of the many cliché stories about Luke falling in love with his young and very hot boss because I personally love superior/inferior fics
