"Don't tell me the Lord Hans, famed for his amorous adventures, is having problems performing in bed now?"
There was an attempt at a joke in his words, but he spoke them mirthlessly and impassionately pained, revealing their true nature.
As he'd expected, there was no smile to be found on Hans’ face either as the man pulled back.
Rather, he appeared dishevelled, blonde hair in disarray as though he had made a personal attempt at pulling it out strand by strand. The blue of his eyes shone even brighter for the redness surrounding it.
He looked tired, Henry thought, for the kindness of not calling it weak, or vulnerable.
The lord’s ostentatious wedding attire was gone too, replaced by a thin tunic and hose that were wrinkled in a way that indicated them having been put on in haste.
"It was a sordid affair," he spoke, rough words no bride would ever want to hear post-consummation, voice shaking.
"It's over with," Henry offered as a meager comfort, in equal measures to himself as to Hans.———
In which Hans gets married to Jitka, and after consummating their marriage, finds himself at Henry's doorstep.
