Except yes, that’s it, that’s exactly it—Ifrit is completely certain, that that’s not the kind of rejection he’d be able to handle. The embarrassment would eat him alive and he’d never look at Alpha ever again. It’s safer to just forget about this and move on, but fuck, he wants it still, though.
