“You’re bleeding”, Will whispers, and then, as if the realization strikes just now as he says it out loud, his voice increases in volume, but shakes harder all the more, “Mike, there’s— there’s blood pouring from your mouth.”
Mike would have been perfectly content with never exploring the depth of his repressed feelings, if it wasn't for the deadly flowers blooming in his lungs.

Summary
It had been months since it all went wrong. Months since Vecna had been killed. Months since Mike Wheeler felt a thing important.
It should've all been amazing, and maybe for a while it was. The buzzing excitement of the newfound victory ringing in his bones.
But when the buzzing faded, and everyone seemed to move into whatever perfectly made boxes they had formed for themselves, Mike realized for the first time how truly alone he was. How much he truly relied on everyone around him to give him a purpose.
Maybe being alone, truly alone, for the first time was too much for him to handle. Maybe it would be for anyone.
