Thankfully, The Spine is there to ease Rabbit into it all, helping her prepare for and keep herself calm so that things don't fall apart before the date even begins.
Then cute times at Balboa Park. So cute. Like, a whole eleven cute.
Title is inspired by something Carissa told us-- that something being that Bunny had "Come And Get Your Love" stuck in her head for a week after seeing GOTG.

Freshly free from the vault, Hatchworth finds himself full of conflicting feelings about joining Steam Powered Giraffe. The Spine manages to ease these feelings out of him during a walk in Balboa Park, and the two connect for the first time in literal decades.

Prompted by an anonymous asker on my Tumblr, rabbittwalter.
This fic takes place in 1938, during the Great Depression. Rabbit sees the pain and suffering his (then 'his') family is going through during this troubling time and it begins to eat at him, causing tension between himself and The Spine. He never knew he was capable of such intense emotion until The Spine finally coaxed it out of him.

It was an unspoken rule. Had been for-- years and years now. The Spine wasn't sure exactly when it became hers, just that it had been hers for as long as he could remember. And he felt like he could remember pretty far back. There are a lot of things he'd rather not remember, of course, from years long past...but that's another story for another day..."
Rabbit invites The Spine to come down to the duck pond with her. However, as they move back through the graveyard, Rabbit makes a special stop...raising questions that The Spine is desperate to have answers to, and leading up to an encounter that he's not sure he's ready for.
