Summary
Standing atop a sandy dune, the blazing sun beating down atop his head, Alhaitham watched as his lover, the blonde architect, Kaveh, ventured on into the vast tundra that was the Great Sumeru Desert―a familiar knot of anxiety writhing in the pit of his stomach...
Now that their complicated relationship had stabilized into romantic amicability, as far as he was concerned, he'd be perfectly happy to enjoy the mundanity of his daily life free, not only from political conflict, but the excessive work hours that came with the position of Acting Grand Sage as well.
However, as the issue of illegal Canned Knowledge grows more prevalent each day, and Sumeru once again teeters on the edge of crisis, Alhaitham finds his peaceful home life disrupted as he's dragged, somewhat reluctantly, into the brewing conflict.
And much to his displeasure, Kaveh along with him...

Summary
Something’s happened to the guard he normally keeps, worn away by time and lack of distance, and Kaeya doesn’t understand the cause nor reason. Though Diluc hasn’t said a single word, there’s an answer in these actions that Kaeya refuses to examine.
And he’s much, much too close.
It hits without warning: a roaring bonfire, an endless field of glowing lampgrass. The world becomes nothing but heat. Kaeya clamps a hand over his mouth and doubles over.

A fight, a reconciliation; in between, Kaeya finds there's a distinction between broken and different.

Summary
Returning to Sumeru after years away has Kaveh reflecting on how on earth he ended up in this position.
Never did he have his dreams in the palm of his hand, but it had never been as far away as in the moment when he locked eyes with Alhaitham again.
From first meetings to child birth, to child loss, Kaveh has mastered the art of running away-
But maybe it's time for him to start running towards something.

Summary
Granted, Kaveh missed him.
He missed the unnecessary commentary, the peaceful silence they shared while doing their own things, simply the comfort of Alhaitham’s presence in their shared space. He missed Alhaitham’s touch—something he had been starved of ever since this research endeavor began.
But he would’ve been fine with it. Really.
Kaveh could have accepted the change, happy even, to see Alhaitham break from his usual status quo every now and then.
Except… something felt off.
Every time Alhaitham returned home and greeted him with their sweet ‘welcome back’ kiss, Kaveh caught a scent that shouldn’t have been there—a lingering sweetness, subtle but unmistakable. Sumeru roses.
Another omega’s pheromone.
