    Summary

Looking at Galinda, Elphaba felt like she was being engulfed in flames. Her eyes, to be seen— she could burn in the mere haze of it.
No amount of air in her lungs would ever be enough. No, it would never be sufficient again. Galinda scorched her way into Elphaba’s chest, and there had never been a lovelier feeling than the sting of its injury.   Elphaba caressed Galinda’s face once more, looking for solace to the wound of the realization that utterly petrified her— She’d never been so scared of losing something in her entire life.

    Summary

    Satoru jolts upright in bed.

He scrambles for his phone. September 19th, 7:46 A.M., it reads.

Satoru exhales slowly. He rubs a hand through his hair.

He probably doesn’t need to keep checking. As long as Suguru continues down this path, the day will keep repeating.

This should probably be of some concern to Satoru. In fact, it’s somewhat reassuring.

    ---

or, Satoru relives the day of Suguru's defection—over and over and over again

    “I’m calling in a favor.”
Suguru frowns, tilting his head to hold the phone against his shoulder while he unloads groceries. “I don’t owe you any favors right now.”
“Yeah, but I’ll owe you one,” Shoko says. “I need you to fill in for me at a…temporary gig.”
“What kind of gig?” Suguru says warily.
    “Marriage counseling,” Shoko replies.
    Suguru drops the phone.

    Summary

His first thought is that wow, Gojo Satoru does not look like anything he imagined.

His second thought is his eyes are pretty.

His third thought, finally, goes into the furthest reaches of his memories to when he was 15 and a fresh-faced first year in Jujutsu High, traveling to Tokyo for two days and kicking the ass of a bastard perpetually in shades.

    “You’re Gojo Satoru?!”

    ---

In another universe where everything is the same except Gojo Satoru and Getou Suguru do not befriend and influence each other as young, impressionable teens. They still find each other, this time on opposite sides of both Jujutsu society and a prison cell--and realize that fate has a way of bringing kindred souls together.

Or, upstanding-citizen-with-hidden-desires Getou Suguru meets strongest-sorcerer-turned-mass-murderer Gojo Satoru. There's a side they must pick, and only one will convince the other.

    Summary

“You are so strange,” Suguru said, but the words didn’t land how he probably wanted them to. His voice dripped with liquid cashmere, warm and soft and wrapping around Satoru.

“You love it,” he said around a mouthful of mochi.

Suguru hummed, not confirming or denying the statement. It still filled Satoru with warmth, spreading from the middle of his chest and creeping down to his fingertips—safe and comfortable as his heart beat a little faster, until he was nothing but the warmth of Suguru’s voice.

He swallowed the sweet mochi, some of it sticking to his teeth. “We’ll be friends for the rest of our lives, right?” His voice betrayed him in the quiet of the moment, coming out far smaller than he intended.

Suguru fell quiet for a moment. His temples clicked as he worried his jaw in thought. “I don’t know,” he answered honestly, voice as small as Satoru’s. “But I hope so.”

“Good,” Satoru nodded once. “I can’t imagine life without you.”

Suguru stole the other chocolate mochi, popping it into his mouth.

Or: Childhood friends Satoru and Suguru, growing up together and growing in love.
