She never got a chance to be a kid, and Sam and Dean can't change the past or their future.

He stared for a moment, disbelievingly, then blinked his eyes, just to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. All other things were forgotten in a split second—the crime scene, Juliet, the pastries, Gus. His mind went blank.

    All at once he felt anger, regret, worry, and—most intensely—guilt. How could he have not noticed her?

    A face he never wanted to see on this side of the police tape. The person he cherished most deeply in the world, slumped over a cafe table and drenched in blood. Is the world really so cruel?
