Ada pressed a hand against the glass door, her palm caressing the wavering shape of Leon's cheek. She knew better, was trained to always be better, but she wanted to relent and abide in this unconventional union. How laughable it was that she could brave the tempest of blood and horror but could not face the truth of her treacherous, beating heart.
There would be no fight tonight, not between the two of them, and not within herself. She would not run.
