Mike and Will haven't talked in two years. But when Will calls Mike from his little NYC apartment, letting him know that he's just gone through a breakup and he needs a new roommate, can they repair their relationship after all this time?
or: Mike and Will's friendship had been seemingly ended by a fight. Mike still lives with his parents while Will makes a name for himself in NYC. However, Will reaching out gives them the chance to be friends again... and more than that, too, if Mike can figure himself out.

Following the ending of S5 vol 1., Mike and Will navigate their feelings for each other, dangerous misunderstandings, an ultimately manipulated story, and, unknowingly, how to break their curse when it inevitably all comes down to them to save the world -- and each other.
**this fic IS byler, but it's written into the story in a realistic way that makes the story and especially mike's character make much more sense. him, will, and especially el, deserved so much better.
plot holes and (most) of our grievances will be fixed in this story.

Life is back to normal in Hawkins, and everything seems to settle down the way it used to be. Will has a boyfriend, and Mike Wheeler is definitely, absolutely fine with that. Apart from this new, vicious feeling that now seizes his chest on a nearly daily basis.

Since the Byers had moved in with the Wheelers, Mike felt a promising sense of worth in his life. He and Will were finally together, despite all odds.
The only things in the way of happiness, it seems, are the creepy, threatening letters that he and his friends are receiving, and the way his heart thumps in his ears whenever he and Will are close.
