The basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets is perfectly lethal. Really. It just needs a minute. Or an hour. Maybe a few days to work up the courage.
Being Slytherin's Monster Most Terrible would be a lot easier if it didn't keep accidentally petrifying itself in mirrors, or finding itself relating to its potential victims, or leaving increasingly apologetic threatening messages on bathroom walls. Tom Riddle is not impressed.
(In which a very anxious basilisk tries its best to be evil, makes an unlikely friend in Moaning Myrtle, and discovers that maybe being terrible isn't all it's cracked up to be.)

(Or: What happens when the most aggressively normal woman in Britain has to accept that she's a witch, and her long-suffering wizard nephew has to teach her how to stop accidentally turning her kitchen appliances into a musical ensemble.)
