Summary
Eito supposes that what he considers their first is not the same as what Takumi does. Takumi describes it to him, sometimes, in whispered admissions, when he thinks that Eito is not listening or not capable of listening to him as he used to. Takumi’s voice gets caught in his throat, tightly wound, “I never thought that you would betray us, betray me. They all went down. They all died in front of me, like Karua– like Kirifuji had.” He pauses, swallowing the memory. “I killed you, I drove my blade through your heart, right here,” he traces the soft ridges of Eito’s chest over his jacket, fixing his fingertips over his heart as easily as if he was an anatomical model, not a living thing. “You were dead. I killed you.”
Eito is going to kill Takumi, no matter how many times it takes.

Takumi’s eyes move over him like a swarm of locusts, jittery and confused and perhaps a bit scared. Ah, his eyes… His perfect, blue eyes… Eito could lose himself in those eyes forever, maybe, for days and months and years and centuries and—
“N- No, sorry, I,” Takumi backs up a half-step. “Sorry, um... who are you?”
Eito extends a hand. “Eito Aotsuki,” he says pleasantly, with a perfect smile. “Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
Eito is not a normal person by any stretch of the imagination.
Still, when a chance at normalcy appears- who would he be if he didn't take it, and ignore anything out of the ordinary that occurs along the way?

Summary
Takumi could never have made this decision without Karua. Without her advice, her comfort, he would’ve been trapped in his head forever, unable to choose. It’s hard to imagine he managed the first hundred days without her, even--and maybe that’s why they went so badly; maybe he needs her on a fundamental level. Without Karua’s support, without the certainty that comes from protecting her, he’s adrift. He’s nothing.

So Karua can’t be--
(Takumi can't accept that Karua isn't real. So he decides she is. Nozomi and Eito suffer the fallout.)

Summary
He’s lived a normal life. He doesn’t think he’s done anything particularly worthy of karmic punishment—he helps old ladies cross the street, he holds the door open for people, and usually does his best to avoid talking shit about people, too. So what if he’s looked past a few street fights? His magic is restricted like everyone else’s, and he’s no fighter. He’s really, truly lived a normal life, so there’s absolutely no reason he should be blindfolded, gagged, and probably in a basement, if the musty air is anything to go by.
