Summary
After all they've been through, it's strange that something so important could be so simple, but for Miles and Phoenix, falling in love, at least, doesn't have to be the end of the world.
Some stress relief fluff that I wrote purely to cheer myself up - there is literally negative plot but there is a lot of lawyers falling into the bright and bitter kind of love that can only come from a lifetime of belligerent teamwork.
(The anxiety tag just refers to Edgeworth's reaction to earthquakes and mentions of a psychologist, btw)

Summary
Clearly Iwaizumi had a checkered past. Kyoutani has never asked about it, nor has Iwaizumi ever brought it up. He knows it’s a sore spot for his mentor, just like the gorgeous Monte Carlo he keeps hidden away is, so he leaves it alone. Out on the streets, you learn a little something about when to turn a blind eye in order to survive; Kyoutani knows better than most to leave the past of men like Iwaizumi well alone.
It’s probably got something to do with the boy in the polaroids, though.

Summary
Some people develop powers as they grow older; others don't. This fact doesn’t bother Oikawa Tooru too much, at least not when he’s young. Then, at eight years old, Iwaizumi Hajime discovers his own ability. He’s stronger than anyone could be, given human limitations. It’s a broad and useful power, one that could take Iwaizumi down any number of paths in the future. He’s discovered his ability early, too, and all of the adults in the neighborhood say that he’s got a bright future ahead of him.
Oikawa could’ve told them that ages ago—he’s always known Iwaizumi is special, long before he started being able to lift furniture with one hand. Everything Iwaizumi does, Oikawa has always done with him. So he goes home and waits for his own ability to manifest.
Nearly ten years later, on the eve of the last tournament of his high school volleyball career, he’s still waiting.

Tooru imagines fields of grass and wheat and flowers covering the now-barren landscape, fed by the scattered lakes and underground water reservoirs of Carystus, and tries not to think of the life on the planet they left behind. Tries not to think of his rooftop garden, or the apartment he used to inhabit, or Hajime’s broken expression on the night they whispered their goodbyes before Tooru’s launch, attempting to push it all to the back of his mind behind visions of this alien world terraformed.
It doesn’t work, but at least he tries.
