Summary
The fight between Maruki and the Phantom Thieves came and went, and Goro couldn’t deny the fear he felt when he realized that Joker was not with them in the Monacopter. His relief, however, was unspeakable, when he saw the shit-eating grin he knew so well hanging by his grappling hook to the helicopter. He wanted to scream, shout, YELL, so many things to Akira, tell him that he was glad that he made the right decision, tell him that he didn’t want to disappear, that he did feel fear, and that he wishes his life wasn’t trivial like he had said, that he felt an emotion for Akira he was unable to put into words. But as he was about to shout Akira’s name from the bottom of the helicopter, he watched Akira drop to where Doctor Maruki stood, his palace fading around him.
Or: that one fistfight joker and maruki had but if joker was honest too.

“I-I could kill you, Akira. I tried. Why…why are you so brainless, so idiotic, that you’d still…” He trailed off, Akira bringing his own hands to Goro’s trembling ones, a look in his eyes. Goro immediately classified it as pity, as sentimentality that was undeserved, but Goro stared back, realizing it was something else. Not either of those feelings. “You…” Goro’s hands dropped to his sides, Akira’s still holding onto his own. He hadn’t realized it, but Goro had started to cry too. Not sobbing, but tears dripped down his face, and Akira only wiped them away, as he cried too. They sank to the cold floor of Leblanc, crying together, realizing they were both feeling an emotion too strong for words, but one only for them.
