goro got his face as near to the other as he dared, heart beginning to pick up speed in his chest. why had he been doing all of this? why did he drive all the way out to see a boy he wasn’t sure even still cared about him? why did goro care for this stupid, idiotic, sentimental piece-of-shit that had no care for his own life, why did goro never want to see him cry again?

Summary
The fight between Maruki and the Phantom Thieves came and went, and Goro couldn’t deny the fear he felt when he realized that Joker was not with them in the Monacopter. His relief, however, was unspeakable, when he saw the shit-eating grin he knew so well hanging by his grappling hook to the helicopter. He wanted to scream, shout, YELL, so many things to Akira, tell him that he was glad that he made the right decision, tell him that he didn’t want to disappear, that he did feel fear, and that he wishes his life wasn’t trivial like he had said, that he felt an emotion for Akira he was unable to put into words. But as he was about to shout Akira’s name from the bottom of the helicopter, he watched Akira drop to where Doctor Maruki stood, his palace fading around him.
Or: that one fistfight joker and maruki had but if joker was honest too.

Goro immediately classified it as pity, as sentimentality that was undeserved, but Goro stared back, realizing it was something else. Not either of those feelings. “You…” Goro’s hands dropped to his sides, Akira’s still holding onto his own. He hadn’t realized it, but Goro had started to cry too. Not sobbing, but tears dripped down his face, and Akira only wiped them away, as he cried too. They sank to the cold floor of Leblanc, crying together, realizing they were both feeling an emotion too strong for words, but one only for them.

Goro hates to be the one being comforted when Akira is the one who just had a bad dream. They stay there, during their free day, in each other's comforting embrace.
"Am I not to blame though?"
"It's not you who is my source of nightmare, Honey."

Despite the circumstances, Goro doesn’t find himself disgusted by the sight in front of him, and instead he’s hit with a wave of restless energy. Consumed by the need to do something and yet infuriatingly unable to do anything. His hands clench into fists so tight he can feel the imprint of his nails in the flesh of his palm.
It’s only when it finally seems as if Akira’s finished for the moment, clutching at the rim and trying to catch his breath, that Goro finally speaks.
“Why do you insist on acting like everything is fine when you’re clearly not feeling well?”
