Summary
The mafia syndicate in this territory was notoriously ruthless, and the one Doppio had unfortunately fallen in with wouldn’t be the first smaller gang to be stomped out beneath their heel. They responded to threats with ruthless force, setting an example to anyone who might be dumb enough to try what others had failed.
No survivors. No witnesses.
There were very few reasons why they’d ever take someone from the scene of a shootout alive. Reasons that didn’t bode well for long term survival, nor for the quality of what remained of their life. Doppio imagined that would go doubly so for someone who didn’t actually have any worthwhile information to extract.
Shit.
Maybe he’d have been better off letting them shoot him, after all.
