Summary
After everything they’ve lost, everything they’ve survived, Alex Karev and Izzie Stevens finally find themselves exactly where they never expected to be: Kansas. Together. Raising their kids and building a life that looks nothing like the one they left behind.
This series of one-shots follows Alex, Izzie, and their children through the quiet moments and the breaking points of their new life. It’s about parenthood, healing, grief, forgiveness, and what it means to build a family after the world has already fallen apart once.
Technically a follow-up to another fic of mine, The One (im)Perfect Thing, but written to stand on its own, it explores what happens after the big choices are made, when love is no longer a question, but a commitment. -

Summary
After years apart, Alex Karev and Izzie Stevens find their way back to each other in the most unexpected way. When Alex calls Izzie with the excuse of Meredith’s trial, secrets are revealed which force them both to confront the lives they’ve built without each other. As they navigate the complicated history between them, Alex and Izzie rediscover not only the love they lost but the family they’ve always dreamed of. This is a story of closure, second chances, and finding home in the people who’ve always been in your heart.
This is a retelling of Alex’s exit in Grey’s Anatomy, how I wish it would’ve been done on screen if they had time, in order to give his character a better send off, one that aims to be coherent with his development. -
