Summary
I reach out and clasp his hand. It's his left, and there are no raised ridges dug into his skin where my atmosphere had once burned him. His hand is ice cold, just as I expected, and I've missed it. I've missed, missed, missed this skin and its press against the xenonite that had once permanently divided us, and I marvel at being able to truly feel Grace's fingers wrapped around mine. I can hear him even better now that we're touching, every gross, leaky bodily function sloshing around in that fragile body of his, pulsing in waves from the point where we are connected, and it's wonderful. I never want to let go.
I belatedly realize that usually, introductions go both ways. I may know Grace, but Grace doesn't know me; I push the thought away. "I'm Rocky."
(You gave me that name. Do you remember?)
"Rocky," he repeats, "like the movies?"
(You're the one who showed me those movies. Do you remember?)
"No, like the rocks," I say, because it's a stupid thing to say but if I say it seriously enough, Grace will laugh.

Summary
Ryland Grace gets called in to look at Astrophage and make first contact with an alien species. To bad he made first contact a while ago, it's just that nobody knew. Getting to work on Project Hail Mary might just be the second best thing to ever happen to him as it means Grace reunites with someone he thought lost. Maybe. There still a sun to save.
But at least now he has Rocky back.

A series in which Rocky is human shaped but still very alien, he and Grace are in a non platonic QPR, and the sun is still dying. It's basically a humanoid Rocky AU canon divergence to the book and movie! Don't worry, it's a happy ending.

Summary
Ryland Grace is having A Week. First he is practically kidnapped from his place of work, sent into one of the finest labs he has ever been in, and told he is going to be first contact with an alien.
Except he's already been first contact with an alien. It's just that no one knows that.
Confused, curious, and with minimal supervision, Ryland Grace makes the breakthrough of the century. What he doesn't know is that he's about to become a part of something much bigger.
