Summary
Obi-Wan doesn't usually get assigned investigative missions, but he's pretty sure the people being investigated aren't supposed to drop their blasters and surrender immediately.
Thorne flinches. “Well no offense to you, Kiffar, but this one—” He gestures at Obi-Wan. “Olen broke the rule, pointing a blaster at him, nevermind actually hitting him.”
“The rule?” Obi-Wan asks, flabbergasted. He looks at Quinlan, who is just as baffled.
“I certainly never pointed a blaster,” Thorne continues, loud, as if he’s hoping someone will overhear him.
“Now that you mention it, I am a little offended,” Quinlan says.

Summary
Metanoia (noun) — a fundamental shift in how someone sees something
~
Kenobi, Anakin loathes to say it, has been one of the most helpful in Anakin’s recovery. He treats Anakin no differently than before, and where even Boba shies away from touching the metal limb, Kenobi gives it not a second thought.
But he is a Jedi, Anakin reminds himself. Jedi will only help you if it is convenient to them, and then they’ll leave you in the sand.
Jango shifts in his seat. “You have a mission to prepare for, Jedi. You should go.” He keeps his eyes trained on Anakin despite how his words are aimed at Kenobi.
The Jedi blinks and straightens in his seat, “Oh, yes, yes I suppose I should.” He stands as gracefully as he can given the less than polite dismissal. “I’ll see you when I return then, Anakin,” he bows his head and leaves without another word.
Anakin says nothing and stares down at his open arm. The words are there on his tongue, trying to pry his lips apart: How did you know Qui-Gon Jinn?

Summary
Acatalepsy (noun) — the impossibility of comprehending the universe
~
A Jedi stares back at Anakin, and Anakin wants him gone more than he wants air in his lungs.
“What are you doing here, Obi-Wan Kenobi?” Anakin asks instead of spitting the venom that sits thick on his tongue.
“Master Kenobi is here to check on our progress,” Taun We blinks down at Anakin, and even though her face never shows anything but an impassive look of observation, Anakin knows just how much she dislikes him.
“An’ika,” Jango draws his attention, finally stepping out of his room — and that armor better be damn well hidden for how long it took him to come out. He jerks his head towards Boba's room.
Anakin nods and sets off towards the room at once. He pauses just before opening the door.
When he turns around, Obi-Wan Kenobi is still staring at him.

Summary
Rigor Samsa (noun) - A kind of psychological exoskeleton that can protect you from pain and contain your anxieties, but always ends up cracking under pressure or hollowed out by time — and will keep growing back again and again, until you develop a more sophisticated emotional structure, held up by a strong and flexible spine, built less like a fortress than a cluster of treehouses.
~
Anakin waits.
He waits for that damn Jedi for far longer than he should have.
Anakin waits like the desert waits for rain. Hopelessly. Stupidly. Maybe tomorrow rain will come.
Maybe tomorrow Qui-Gon Jinn will come back for the little boy he left behind in the stifling sands.
Qui-Gon Jinn never comes, and eventually, Anakin finds himself wishing for anyone.
