Marina had not seen her husband in months and months. The change he had undergone in her absence was plain as day.
Gone was the innocent boy who had so eagerly fallen for her schemes. In his place stood a man, his towering frame and broad shoulders spread impressively. His clothes were dishevelled but he cared not for how he appeared, a roguish smirk stretching his lips. His eyes were darker than she remembered, his jaw lined and cheeks taut, curls tousled in a rakish manner. There was a stain of rouge on the corner of his mouth and fresh love bites blooming at his exposed collarbone, trailing all the way down his chest and beneath his shirt - no cravat to be seen.

The bartender, a suave man with tattoos and a rugged kind of charm, slid her margarita over to her and tilted his head at Colin. “He bothering you?”
Slightly taken aback by the question - if anything, from an outsider’s point of view, it was sure to look as though she was the one bothering him. Colin hadn’t so much as glanced her way in the ten minutes they’d been sitting there.
“No,” she replied, letting out an awkward chuckle as she cast a sideways glance at Colin, who was staring at the bartender with an odd look in his eye.
Before she could continue, though, he interrupted her.
“I’m her boyfriend, mate,” said Colin coldly, in a tone he hardly ever used. It sounded foreign in his voice, this restrained anger. Penelope blinked at him, shocked. “Fuck off, will you?”
