Summary
He raps lightly on the door frame, and Bruce looks up from his paperwork, the lines of concentration on his face falling away to be replaced by a smile as he sees Tim.
“Hey,” he says, turning in his chair to face him. “It’s good to see you. How was your check-up?”
The lines around his eyes are deeper than they used to be, a few strands of gray peeking through at his temples that weren’t there a year ago.
Tim smiles back, holding up the small pharmacy bag in his hand. “Got my antibiotics.”
He walks over, dropping down on the couch, the leather seat soft and familiar beneath him. He can feel his father’s careful gaze like a weight, knows he can pick up on the tension in Tim’s frame, the way his fingers crinkle the plastic bag nervously. He doesn’t bother to try and disguise his anxiety, just gets to the point. “I have to go off my suppressants.”

Summary
Bruce circles him. He’s barely broken a sweat, highly conscious of the lack of ache in his own muscles. “You need to improve your stamina,” he growls. “This isn’t good enough.”
His tone is cruel, biting.
Tim should lash out at it. He should snap back that he’s trying, that he’s doing his best, that he is improving.
Instead, he just nods, adjusting his stance. He swallows, throat audibly clicking with dehydration. “Again,” he croaks out. “Let’s do it again. I’ll get it this time.”
And Bruce should refuse. He should insist he take a break, should send him to go get something to drink, should tell him they’re done for the night so he won’t be too sore to train again tomorrow.
Instead, he matches his stance.

Summary
They find Jason's trackers on the rooftop of the apartment building - every single one, carefully and efficiently cut from his clothes, except for the ones in his shoes.
Those garments have been abandoned wholesale.
Analysis of these trackers back at the cave will later reveal them to have been fried by an electric current - a direct hit, not merely an EMP, from which their trackers are largely shielded.
They find, too, Jason’s personal taser, the little red one that Bruce had gifted to him to carry at all times in his civilian identity.
The tracker contained in the device is the only surviving one, the one that brought them to this rooftop.
It had last moved a mere seven minutes before Damian had arrived on the scene. An entire seven minutes before Damian had arrived.
They do not find Jason.
They don’t find any evidence of where or how he was taken, no trails they can follow.
It’s like he was simply cut out of their universe, nothing but his shoes and his weapon left behind.
And Damian is horribly, terribly aware that the last time a boy vanished like this, he never came home again.

Summary
They drive to the drive-through a couple miles away, not the more charming and traditional walk-in shop that Dick likes to take him to when he picks him up from school. Two minutes later, they’re parked at the back of the lot, Tim twisting the plastic spoon in his cup of uneaten cookie dough ice cream, wondering if he could even swallow it past the lump in his throat.
Bruce hasn’t touched his sherbet either, just holds it in his lap. There’s a drop on the rim of his cup, lazily making its way toward his expensive slacks.
He moves before Tim can make up his mind whether to break the silence and warn him, reaching into his jacket pocket with his free hand and pulling out a familiar white pill bottle.
He sets the Prozac on the dash.

Summary
For a long moment, Alfred is silent, and Dick chews on his lip, trying to fight back the tears he can feel rising. “Do you know I have quite forgotten how Mr. Wayne took his eggs?” he says abruptly.
Dick looks up in surprise, frowning, and Alfred nods before continuing. “He could be quite particular about them, I recall that much. I remember he didn’t like pepper in them, because Mrs. Wayne used to tease him about his… reluctance to enjoy spices. But I cannot for the life of me seem to recall whether he preferred them poached, or in the form of an omelette.”
“That’s not a big deal,” Dick offers uncertainly. “I mean, I bet you remember lots of more important stuff,” he adds hastily, trying not to sound dismissive.
Thankfully, Alfred tips his head in acknowledgement. “I do,” he agrees. “I remember a great many things. But I have forgotten things too, and I expect as time goes on, more of them will slip away from me, and it’s entirely possible that I won’t even notice they’re gone. My memories of them will simply be… less.”
Dick looks at him, studying the lines of his weathered face. “Does that ever make you feel like... like if you loved them more, you’d remember them?”
