“Here,” Eddie said, plopping Buck down on the counter, “if you won’t believe me, believe him.”
“I know you did not just put a wild animal where we eat,” Hen muttered lowly, looking at Buck with her lip curled.
Buck looked back up at her, his eyes huge and watery in his typical puppy eyes, ears drooping sadly beside his face. He shuffled towards Hen slowly, making small huffing sounds as he went, as if trying to apologize. “Oh my god,” Hen whispered, reaching out a hand to delicately stroke Buck’s forehead, “yeah, that’s an Evan Buckley face if I’ve ever seen one.”
