Summary
"No, Andre, the thing is- the thing is I don't fucking get it." Cal bites back his anger, because for all he feels like his heart was crushed into a billion, trillion pieces by a merciless foot, he can't, won't afford to have Andre know his boot was the one to smear Cal's blood all over the pavement.
"What in the world don't you get?!" Andre, in turn, makes no effort to hide his irritation, and it makes Cal's stomach churn with rejection setting deep within his guts.

Summary
When they kiss it's messy and tastes like Rachel's cherry chapstick. At seventeen, Cal is kissing a girl for the first time, and nothing feels in place. Still, he snakes his hand around Rachel's waist to pull her closer. He thinks maybe if he tries harder he'll enjoy it. Rachel's grip on his shoulder tightens and she softly bites his bottom lip. Cal pulls back in the least abrupt way he can manage and stares at her with the least disgust he can put on his face, because everything is fine, that didn't remind him of Andre and he's fine.

Summary
"Y'know," Cal starts, and Andre has a feeling he's about to say something that will make him want to run out the door, as if having kissed Cal didn't already make him feel that way, "I'd let you cut me. Lick up my blood, if you wanted to."
Andre stares in disbelief, "Are you insane?"

Summary
Traditionally, the lamb is portrayed as a gentle submissive creature, associated with ritual or religious sacrifice. But sometimes, the figure of the lamb takes on two roles: as both a victim and a source of violence or sacrifice.
Or: Jimmy sees in Curly what he wants to see in him and it ends up terribly for everyone including Jimmy himself. An alternate universe where they are all tributes to the new Hunger Games.
