Summary
When Shadowheart was given the mission to steal an ancient artefact from Crèche K’liir she never could have imagined it would go this wrong. Yes, she has the artefact, but she’s the last one of her team alive, has no weapon, and has fallen from the sky about a thousand miles from Baldur’s Gate!
Oh, and she’s stuck with the worst travel companion imaginable. This has to be Lady Shar testing her infiltration skills. And her patience.
So, here Shadowheart is. Out in the woods. Disguised as a githyanki. And with only Lae’zel of Crèche K’liir for company.
Thank the gods the woman is gullible enough to believe her disguise. For now. There’s a long road ahead of them.

A daughter of the Emperor—born from a primordial ember and raised to be a lens, not a god—builds wonders to win a distant father’s praise, only to discover that love, obedience, and empire can grind a soul thinner than any war. The Imperium had a chance to be what it was meant to be. But somethings cannot be change. And after waking up after 10,000 years, could she still make a change in an universe where there is only chaos, death, decay and suffering? Or will it let it burn?
Whatever she chooses, she must remember that in this Galaxy, there is only War.
