Prompt: Sharing a Bed (trope subversion)
---Dustin looks at Steve skeptically, “Maybe you should get bunk beds?”
“We don’t need bunk beds, it’s not a sleepover.”
“Yeah, because a sleepover would be too weird, and this is totally normal,” Lucas says, raising his eyebrows.
“Look, I don’t know why this is so hard to understand. A bed is just a piece of furniture for sleeping. If we always sleep at different times, why would we need another one?”

Prompt: Love Triangle (subverted)
---
When Robin finally gets a chance to talk to Billy about it, it’s acutely uncomfortable. Mostly because Billy always seems to be uncomfortable when she’s around, but maybe it’s worse because there’s nobody there to act as buffer. Or maybe it’s that Robin followed Billy and that’s, okay, a little bit creepy and weird. But, hey, she’s gotta do what she’s gotta do.
“Steve’s not my boyfriend.”
“What?”
You know, that’s fair. There’s such a thing as too blunt and direct. But, well, she’s said it now, so her only recourse is to double down and be as clear and direct as possible.
“Like, I’m not his girlfriend. We aren’t dating. Not together. None of that. Entirely and totally platonic friends, actually.”

Prompt: "Leave me alone"
---
“Okay,” Billy scooted over and gave Steve an expectant look, “Now what?”
Steve shook his head. Billy had barely budged.
“Closer, c’mon.”
“What are you trying to do?”
“You’re being dense. C’mon, do you want to cuddle or not?”
Billy looked unimpressed, “Cuddle? Are we five?”

NSFW --> SFW Prompt: Hair-pulling
---
Steve grumbles. His hand idly pulls another strand.
“I’m serious, I don’t care how high you are, if you pull my hair again, you’re dead.”
“It’s nice.”
“What?”
“Your hair.”
Billy snorts, “Yeah, okay, Harrington. I think you need to sleep this shit off.”

Summary
“You have to be careful with people like that, okay?” Billy said, finally.
Max scrunched up her nose and said, “Like what? People who don’t like you?”
Billy huffed.
“You know that’s not what I’m saying,” He paused. “Older people who hang around kids, who want you to trust them, who make you feel cool. You have to watch out for people like that.”
Max tried to figure out what Billy was saying, or trying to say. He wasn’t very good at that stuff. Saying what he meant. Sometimes, it felt like Billy expected Max to take all the pieces he gave her and puzzle it out on her own.

Summary
Ever since Billy’s mom left, there hasn’t been much to eat at home. Neil doesn’t really pay attention to things like that. Groceries. Cooking. Feeding a kid. It’s not something he even thinks about.
“A man needs a wife, son. Somebody to keep the house in order. I work hard all day. I shouldn’t have to suffer just because that bitch left.”
Billy always nods when his dad says things like that. He’s learned that agreeing with Neil is usually his best bet. Billy has also learned to keep his mouth shut about the food situation. It sets Neil off on his tirades about Billy’s mom and a woman’s place and how ungrateful Billy is for everything Neil has done for him, for Neil not leaving him like “that bitch”.

The Billy Hargrove eating disorder fic nobody asked for, but that's been haunting me for weeks.

Summary
After Neil leaves, Susan starts telling this story. The story of a man so distraught over the loss of his son, so wracked with grief, that he can’t take it anymore. A man who leaves because he can’t bear to stay in the town where his son was dead and buried. Susan tells this story over and over.
She tells it to the people around town, who offer their condolences and sympathy. She tells it to Max, even though they both know it’s not the truth. But worst of all, what Max can’t stand to hear anymore, is the way Susan tells the story to herself. Between ugly gasps and sobs, a couple drinks too far gone, crying on the couch at night.
But the truth looks something like this…
OR
The canon reason for Neil leaving sucked and implied he cared about Billy… So I wrote my own explanation instead.
