Summary
A self-indulgent fic inspired by the lyrics of Poison Oak by Bright Eyes chronicling Hanschen and Ernst's lives together and apart. Spoiler alert: I definitely do sadness.
I highly recommend listening to the song before/during/after reading, but you do you B-) -

Summary
It started when Georg had asked Ernst for help studying history- the dark-eyed boy had a proficiency for old English kings and popes, and agreed to help Georg on the condition that he would help him with mathematics. It was agreed upon that Ernst would come over to Georg's house after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next two and a half weeks to revise, but two and a half weeks ended three months ago. The creatures of habit settled into theirs without a second thought, reading, studying, listening to Georg play. It didn't matter.

Summary
The dusty road on the way to the vineyard was a comfort to the pair. It meant that with every step they take they are closer to speaking, to touching freely, away from prying eyes and ears. Coming upon the oak behind the church, Hanschen lightly grasps Ernst's fingers, letting them intertwine the way they were always meant to.

Summary
Hanschen didn't go to parties exclusively to spy on the pretty art therapy major with the kindest soul the world had ever seen- that would be too stalker-ish. Hanschen attended parties to see his friends, or at least that's what he told himself- and spy on Ernst.

Summary
"Starting without me, are you?" a voice whispers, invading his room, his peace. Excellent. Anna, illuminated by the moonlight streaming through the window, tiptoes over to the foot of his bed, watching him curiously, her braided head cocking to the right. Hanschen smirks.
"I was beginning to think you would not come at all," he drawls lazily.
"Well, I'm not coming yet, Hansi," she giggles, crawling onto the bed.

Summary
He pulled my arm back more before letting go of my hand and whispering in a voice that I would be unable to hear if he wasn’t pressed against me. “Now throw it, Ernst.”
The rock definitely flew. Not as far or as gracefully as Hanschen’s had, but it skimmed the water like his. I held my breath and counted, one, two, three skips across the surface before it slipped beneath the water.
“See. I told you that you would remember.”
When Hanschen stepped away, I felt an odd sense of emptiness. Like I felt better when he was there, guiding my body like his own. I stumbled a bit to catch myself before I tried to lean back into his touch. Hanschen laughed a quiet laugh from behind me. “But you must’ve forgotten how to stand in the process.”
