Shovel Knight, Cuphead and Niko recollect themselves have the disastrous ambush of the Rouges right before they were all about to get their ways home. To make matters worse, it's revealed that Cuphead didn't grab Niko's Sun when he saved them. Thus leading to Niko getting upset and for Shovel Knight to see if he can provide any words of encouragement to the child. Only for him to learn the true nature of Niko's journey.

The scowling hedgehog dusted himself off, staring at the five different Eggmans and, surprisingly, scowled harder.

Shadow ignored the little leap his heart did when the voice reached his ears, as well as the spike of relief that spread through his body, and turned to glance at his blue counterpart through the window of the weird cage? Exercise room? he was in.
“Sonic,” he growled. If it was a little less angry than usual, that was nobody’s business.
