Summary
"Sorry for trespassin'," he says, illogically. "Just thought this might be a fine place to die. Figured I'd make a nice snack for you, at least." His voice slurs a little as he speaks. It's a pleasant voice, Qifrey thinks idly. Nice and raspy, almost like a beginning of a growl. The man is still watching him through a glaze. "Gods, but you're beautiful," he says, absurdly.
Qifrey freezes in his descent. Watches the way the human wrinkles his nose as he seems to process his own words, then closes his eyes.
"Why'd I say that," he asks.

What's a dragon to do, when a dying man stumbles into his den and collapses against his hoard? Follow him home, marry him, and adopt a family, of course. Now, that's probably not right, but there's few willing or capable of correcting a dragon in something they've decided to do.

Summary
When Cregan is old and grey, when his knees wobble as he walks, when he’s surrounded by his grandchildren, when he has long since forgotten Jacaerys’ eyes, the exact shape of his smile, his scent, his taste, Cregan will still have the scar.
Proof that the Warden of the North loved and loved greatly. Proof that Cregan Stark gave his heart to a southern Prince and lost it at sea.
And when the Stranger comes forth and presses her kiss of death to his lips, it’ll be Jacaerys Velaryon that he sees.
OR,
Word reaches Cregan that Jacaerys has fallen.

Summary
After his birth mother gave everything to escape Sylvestre Lesage’s clutches, Dion grows up a commoner in Eastpool and in the care of his adoptive parents Lord Commander Rodney and Hanna Murdoch. For his own safety, Dion is taught to suppress his powers and distance himself from all courtly affairs—compelled to watch and admire the Rosfield brothers only from afar.
But the call of Bahamut and a far greater purpose grows too strong. When Dion comes of age at fifteen, he presents himself as a Shield recruit, hoping to serve directly under First Shield Clive Rosfield and become protector of Joshua Rosfield, Dominant of the Phoenix and soon-to-be crowned Archduke of Rosaria.
