    Eddie’s pitch flicks up at the end, and yeah okay whatever maybe Eddie’s well within his right to be surprised, but Steve bristles. He resorts to doing what he does best: deflecting.
    “Yeah I dunno, I was maybe busy getting laid or something.” Steve smiles, picking something light-heartedly inflammatory just to get a rise out of Eddie, but his voice trails off into a mumble towards the end; he’s fighting hard not to get caught up on the way Eddie’s idly flicking the plastic spinner around and around as they talk.
