Because frankly, Jacob and Edward had more chemistry in the last two movies than Edward and Bella had in the entire franchise.
What would happen if an imprint was disconnected? Would it shatter said person forever? Or, would the imprint simply attach itself to someone else? This fic stems off the latter. Jacob's imprint is separated from Renesmee, and it immediately falls on the one person he never, ever suspected.
