You stop reading the news when the attacks and the casualties melt into a cold, samey blur, and the PPDC waits impatiently for you to ‘go back to normal’, as Yamaguchi calls it, so you can take one some dull, non-combat role at the Shatterdome.
And then the impossible happens, in the form of Cadet Oikawa Tooru.
