That was a little unusual. RK900 was unswayable in most things, but he easily indulged Gavin’s wants if there was no harm in them, especially if he thought he could be helpful. Going with Gavin on a shopping trip to soothe his nerves about being even a little involved in such a big decision? Totally his MO, so what gives? It made Gavin’s detective senses tingle.
“Other engagements, huh? You cheating on me?” It wasn’t a serious question at all, just bait.“I’m fucking every single one of your neighbors,” Nines shot back without hesitation.

“I want to...” He seems to test the words out, eyes searching. “I want to be a good person, Gavin.” The statement is a far cry from the Elijah of two years ago, or four years ago, or ten. The one who would’ve rather argued the semantics of what person meant than admit to being one himself. With more resolve, he adds, “I want to fix my mistakes. Make things right, if it’s possible.”
I really really like how elijah is portrayed here, and in extension gavin. The former's manic depression is really clear and I find that super interesting together with how complicated their relationship is

She shows no interest. He may as well be reading her the weather.
“I’m in love with one,” he adds. “An RK900. His name is Nines. He’s my best friend.”
Behind the shallow loveliness of her features, the Android is simply empty. Gavin wonders how he ever confused a deviant for a non-deviant. The life in their eyes makes all the difference. He misses Nines so bad he can hardly breathe.

Summary
After the android uprising, Connor becomes a permanent fixture in the DPD. That’s fine. Gavin can accept that. The dipshit’s more human than he used to be, and a decent detective to boot. Gavin can deal with him being around.
What Gavin cannot deal with is Connor’s replica; prissy, cold-eyed, and with a mouth that Gavin doesn’t know whether to punch or take between his teeth. The RK900 model has been assigned as his partner for the foreseeable future.
