    Sephiroth appeared in a flash of light, knocking Cloud back with Kadaj’s blade. He smirked at the blond haired man, his green eyes glinting. “It’s been a while, Cloud.”
    Cloud just stared at him, his blue eyes wide with a hint of shock. The expression was alarming enough that Sephiroth frowned, wondering why his nemesis had such a befuddled look on his face.
    That lasted until Sephiroth glanced at one of the broken windows at his reflection.

    Sephiroth is reborn in Advent Children, but not how he wants to be.

    Gaia can't be saved, Jenova's poison too far reaching and Sephiroth tied too closely to her Chosen One. Unable to break that bond, she chooses to steer into it. She completes their bond fully and sends Cloud back in time. This time, if one is killed, the other is halved. Cloud can work with that.

    Sephiroth gains knowledge of this bond in vague dreams. A blonde warrior who is a sight to behold, but whose death would mean his own. If he is real, he must protect him at all costs.

    Too bad nobody told Cloud what Sephiroth wants.

    Or; that one time-travel fic where Cloud is just trying to save Gaia whilst avoiding Sephiroth until last. Sephiroth is just trying to find and protect the blonde warrior whose life is inexplicably tied to his own.
