Summary
“Are you alright, sir?”
Oh. Wei Wuxian realized he had been staring. He felt that familiar warmth at being gendered correctly. Honestly, recently he had hardly ever been misgendered, but it still felt so good to be called sir..
Wait—sir? Did Lan Zhan not recognize him?
The hand holding the front of his jacket tightened slightly. Oh, right—he was still staring. And suddenly his brain rebooted. The meeting. He was late for the meeting.
“Yes! I’m good, I’m alright, thank you! Mm—are you alright? I’m so sorry, I need to go! I’m so, so late, I’m really sorry!Trans Wei Ying and Ballet Dancer Lan Zhan. They are neighbors. With a past. How will this story end?

Summary
Lan Zhan had said, “You are not a monster.” Cold, calloused hand in the soft underbelly of Wei Wuxian’s wrist, pulse jackrabbiting in his own ears and now beneath Lan Zhan’s fingers. “This is what it means to be a person.”
Wei Wuxian’s voice trembled when he could gather enough air to respond. “Would a person do what I have done?”
“Lived and lost and grieved,” Lan Zhan had murmured, to Wei Wuxian’s soft, contrary scoff. “Yes, I would hope so. Any one person is capable of being monstrous. Not all of them would shed your tears. And this is what it means to be a person.”
“To shed a few tears?” Wei Wuxian asked, a trembling, teasing shadow of a smile on his face.
“To regret,” Lan Zhan replied. “Now, let us sleep.”

Summary
In the center of it all is a man…
A man who is scrambling around a small convection oven on the counter, trying to scrape out the blackened remains of what Hua Cheng assumes were once cookies. He appears to be in his early thirties and, despite his frantic movements and creased expression, the first word that comes to Hua Cheng’s mind is: soft.
His hair, a beautiful, earthy chestnut brown color, is pulled back into a loose bun on the top of his head. A few strands hang free, framing his face. He wears cuffed jeans and a cream-colored turtle-neck sweater that swamps his frame and falls down to his thighs, giving him a cozy, shapeless figure.
or: Hua Cheng is a famous muralist who is losing his passion for art when he meets Xie Lian, single father to five-year old Guzi. Xie Lian is in the midst of opening a flower shop and Hua Cheng, instantly captivated by this man with warm eyes and a soft nature, offers to help.
