"Okay, what the fuck are we doing here."
"Santos-"
"No, I'm serious." Her voice came out with an edge she hadn't entirely planned for, sharp and tired and real in a way that months of careful management had been preventing. "What is this. What is this, Garcia, because I genuinely need you to explain it to me."...

One charity gala, one whisky too many, and one balcony confrontation later, and the two doctors finally say what they've been avoiding for months.Series

Summary
She shakes her head again. “I don’t know. I’d rather spend my time helping other people find love. It’s never been important to me.”
Samira Mohan is a good matchmaker. An excellent one. She loves studying people, getting to know them, figuring out what makes them work well with a partner. She loves her job, she loves watching other people get happy endings. She never needed a happy ending of her own. That is, until she meets Emery Walsh at a wedding.

“There’s money on you or Abbot snagging that resident first.”
This piques Emery’s attention. Abbot. No mention of the intern. She tries not to let her interest show on her face. “Funny. I don’t know which resident you’re talking about.”
Garcia snorts. “I think you do.”
Walsh does not have a crush. However, when she finds out Dr. Samira Mohan is, in fact, single, she makes her move.

Summary
Garcia knows Santos has been struggling with her second year of residency, the workload never letting up even months into it; and she’s all too aware of the tension with which Santos’s been carrying her body these past few months. As much as Garcia has been insisting that she take care of herself lest she risk burnout, Santos has quite the stubborn streak: it’s clear that she’s been running on fumes this past week, her body essentially comatose right now beside her. She regards Santos’s sleeping figure and resolves to wrest as much rest out of the following days as Santos will allow her to—and there’s no doubt she’ll be met with protest, albeit futile, at every effort.
Santos is a dense ball of tension as is, but Garcia wants to tease out any remaining coils of it that linger underneath, delicately working at them, dredging them up until she can eradicate the tension entirely.
