Summary
At age twelve Anthony’s class gets a new student. Anthony doesn’t care much because he’s painfully shy already and his circle of friends is practically non-existent. He hears whispers about himself. That he’s too quiet. That he is weird. That he’s creepy. That’s fine. It gives him an excuse not to have to go out of his way to try and talk to other people.
This new kid though, is marched into the classroom by the principal, all dark hair and blue nervous eyes and is forced to introduce himself to the gaggle of strangers.
That same new kid ends up sitting next to Anthony and it is no coincidence that it is one of the only empty seats in the room. People aren’t clambering to sit with him and, the new kid, Ian, shuffles to the back of the room, bowing his head as he drops into the seat next to Anthony.
