“So, what day is good for you to meet Sam?”
Steve asked the question in as casual a tone as he could manage, but since Steve had never said anything casually in his life, it didn’t cut much ice.
Bucky looked up from his book, and pulled a face.
“No.”
“Bucky?”
“Steve,” he sing-songed in return, his eyes already focused back on his book.
“Whatever happened to the end of the line?”
“Well, unless you’re planning to fight some guy named Sam, I really don’t think it applies here.”
“Not even if I’m planning to propose to him?” Steve asked, softly.
Or: Meeting your best friend’s boyfriend isn’t supposed to be like this.

Summary
The bed gives a loud, complaining creak as Bucky climbs on top, bracing himself with his hands on either side of Sam’s hips. It’s too narrow for two grown men—definitely not made for this—but they make it work. Legs tangle. Knees knock. Everywhere they touch is warm. Sam’s stretched out on the pillows, shirtless, watching him with that slow, easy look. His smile’s crooked, barely there, but it keeps pulling tight in Bucky’s chest every time their eyes meet.
Now Sam’s lying loose beneath him, looking just the way he did back at the club, like nothing could bother him. One arm’s tucked under his head, and the other is moving slow down Bucky’s ribs, like he’s trying to learn him by feel.
