Summary
Years after Jin Ling had to take over command of the Jin sect, Jiang Cheng’s life had stabilized somewhat – if not for the crushing loneliness he was trying to pretend out of existence. It takes a plot from Jin Ling to make him fess up to it, sent away on a night hunt in the outer reaches of the jianghu. Far away from the persona of Sect Leader Jiang and all it entailed, a chance encounter with a man from an entirely different walk of life makes him realize just why he never found a woman he would like to marry. And of course – because he’d been foolish to ever wish for some simple peace and quiet – it is then that Wei Wuxian falls into his life again.

Summary
Some time after Wei Wuxian leaves Lan Zhan and the Cloud Recesses for the open road, he visits Lotus Pier again for the first time since the climax at the Guanyin Temple. He’s only been there for a few days, and he hasn’t managed to really meet with Jiang Cheng for more than empty pleasantries, but what he has been able to do is grow a family of frogs in Jiang Cheng’s pond. It’s not like he’s been spying, really, it’s just that the pond is in both their backyard and Jiang Cheng gave him this room, so it’s his fault!
And all the while, Yunmeng holds its breath for the storm that's hanging over the Lotus Pier to finally break.

"Jiang Cheng is a little unclear on how they got here. They were just arguing in the halls of the Unclean Realm, as they had for the majority of the time the Sunshot campaign forces had convened here. Jiang Cheng had just gotten going, ready to yell himself hoarse, when Wei Wuxian grabbed him and shoved him into some tiny dark room along the walkway. He could have put up more of a fight but he’s so busy shouting he only notices once he’s already stumbling his way headfirst into a cabinet full of cleaning supplies."

"Jiang Cheng can’t even protest, just lets himself be pulled by his sleeve, into the warmth of the hanshi – the Frost Room is definitely ill-named in this moment. He wouldn’t be surprised to see condensation drip off every smooth surface, so hot is it inside.
'How many talismans did you draw up for this?' he asks, feeling sluggish and dumb as Lan Huan just chuckles, gently bullying Jiang Cheng past a privacy screen and towards the bath with a concerned crease between his eyebrows.
'Are you complaining?' Lan Huan murmurs, hands pulling Jiang Cheng’s collars open to slip his hands in, onto the sides of Jiang Cheng’s chest just above his ribs. 'You are freezing.'"
