“Your Majesty?!” Steiner hurried to her side, armor clanking with every step. “Is something amiss?” He dropped to one knee out of reverence, though prayed she’d excuse him for gawking at her tear-stained face. “My Queen, please tell me what ails you so I can help.”
The bittersweet chuckle nearly knocked him prone. Concern crinkled his features while he awaited any response from Garnet.
“Oh, Steiner,” she said between sniffles, “I’m afraid there is nothing to be done. Not by you... or anyone, really.”
While preparing for Tantalus' performance, Steiner discovers an old ally and friend can no longer attend.
