The bittersweet chuckle nearly knocked him prone. Concern crinkled his features while he awaited any response from Garnet.
“Oh, Steiner,” she said between sniffles, “I’m afraid there is nothing to be done. Not by you... or anyone, really.”
While preparing for Tantalus' performance, Steiner discovers an old ally and friend can no longer attend.

If this is what the bastard smells like on suppressants, then Ed can't even imagine how good he must smell normally. What would the full force of it do to Ed's body? To his psyche? It would probably feel amazing.
Ed hopes he smells half this good to other people when he presents, but knowing his luck he'll smell like dear old dad, not that he remembers what that smells like anymore. Probably it'll be some bullshit like... like... a train car when it's way too hot out. Rancid milk. Automail oil, too, even if he gets his limbs back, because there's no way he won't be cursed with this for the rest of his life. To be fair, he fucking deserves it.
Part of this whole thing has to be about acceptance, though, doesn't it? So, maybe he'll just... be what he is. For once.

The boy doesn’t say anything, he just stares down at his worn shoes and allows his bangs to fall forward to obscure his eyes. Roy is struck by the brightness of his hair, by the way it glows in the fading evening light slanting in through the clerestory windows, and the shadows that settle in his hollow cheeks serve as a counterpoint to his painful youth.
The slant of his narrow shoulders betrays his shame, his guilt, his fear, and Roy realizes just how incredibly easy this is going to be.

Roy Mustang is a chemistry professor who feels very qualified to become Central University’s Chemistry Department’s new Head after Dr. Maes Hughes reveals he wants to step down. Unfortunately, Maes doesn’t exactly feel the same way. Something about how his research isn’t as interesting anymore, or how his graduate students aren’t producing as impactful research as some of his colleages’ students. While Roy disagrees, he knows what he must do.
While at a conference, he attends the session of masters student Edward Elric which completely knocks his socks off. So much so that he needs to recruit Edward to work under him right now (and get some new socks). Of course, he’s going to find that Edward Elric isn’t the easiest to work with. In fact, he’s infuriating. Yet, Roy can’t deny, he’s as frustrating as he is enigmatic. When he really looks at him, he’s pretty stunning, a thought that has ‘Title IX Violation’ written all over it.
