Now that Shane has started his sophomore year at Boston University, he wants nothing but to focus on his classes, play hockey, and forget about The Incident that happened at the end of his freshman year. Of course that would be easier without Ilya Rozanov, who lives in the same frat house as him, reminding him of it every three seconds.

‘No, she is fine,’ Ilya snapped out of his momentary stupor. ‘It is-... Svetlana is not-... I just can’t come to hotel tonight. I’m sorry.’
‘You don’t have to be sorry,’ Hollander said softly. ‘Can I help?’

‘Ilya?’
Ilya’s breath caught in his throat.
Hollander - Shane - had never called him by his first name before. They didn’t do that. It was too close to friendship. Too close to something that they could not be.
Even if Ilya often found himself daydreaming of a world in which they could.
A heartbeat passed between them. Then another. Finally Ilya whispered, ‘Yes, Shane?’
‘Let me help. Please?’
