Summary
“Okay, now, quick fill me in,” Tony lowered his voice as they stopped, the cars on the highway rushing by occasionally. “What’s your brag? What should I know?”
“Brag? – I don’t brag,” Peter protested, insulted.
“Figuratively speaking, jeez,” Tony perched his glasses higher on his nose. “They know about the internship, no? I signed the paperwork, so I assume they know.”
“Um, yeah, yes – they know.”
“Well, what else do they know?” Tony glanced over Peter’s shoulder. “We need to be on the same page, kid – do you remember it’s a cover? If it’s full of holes it won’t do a good job of covering.”
“Right,” Peter nodded to himself vigorously. “Right. Uh. They don’t know much. I, well, I might have said I know you,” he cringed under the man’s watchful gaze but Mr. Stark’s face didn’t so much as twitch. “And, and Ned might have blurted out that I know Spider-Man…”
Tony sighed, his eyes closing briefly in grief at their teenage stupidity.
“Sorry,” Peter said.

Summary
Ravi loved the 118, and against all odds, even started to love the five other people that were sitting next to him. He even loved Buck, who had chased him around with a chainsaw because his friend left the 118. But family? When Ravi thought of family he thought of the lives he had destroyed. He thought of Geetha, halfway across the country without a peep. He thought of Rajan, who couldn’t drink alcohol again for the rest of his life. He thought of Santha and the man she remarried, Edgar.
He thought of his dad.

Summary
Look, Ravi’s heard everything there is to hear, okay? A shift is… something. When he first joined the 118, it was told to him like a joke, like a curse. "Oh, be careful if you get assigned A shift! You’ll get rebar through the head, or trapped down a well! Haha!"
Well. It wasn’t really a joke to Ravi, not really. Not now. Not when he got close to the team, when they went from strangers to colleagues to just… more. When it became looking at baby pictures and talking about college funds and asking about how his parents are doing and if they’re still planning to come visit for his birthday and –
Yeah. Ravi's glad he got mixed up in this weird little group.
But the curse, well. The others weren’t exactly wrong about that part. And maybe Ravi was a little naïve to think it wouldn’t catch up to him eventually, sure. But –
“Ravi!” Bobby yelled, as Ravi gets punched in the face.
***
Ravi gains a concussion, a bunch of blankets, and a reminder about his place in the 118.

Summary
In May’s defense, she totally did not mean to turn it into a whole thing. She just hadn’t been ready to talk about it at first, and now that she is ready to talk about it, she’s having too much fun not talking about it to stop. The operative ‘it’ being: she’s in love with Ravi, Ravi is in love with her, and absolutely nobody knows.

Summary
The kid’s face, stoney and blank and expressionless, suddenly blinks to life. His eyes are wide, hat pulled down on his head and his mouth parts before closing again. Can’t be more than fifteen, sixteen. Sullen but hopeful at the same time. Couldn’t care less but curious nonetheless. Howard reaches over, hand stretched out.
“I’m Howie, it’s nice to meet you.”
The kid stares at him for a moment, his parents watching them both cautiously.
It takes a moment. Makes him nervous that he’s upset him somehow; done the wrong thing, said the wrong words. But then, after a few seconds, the kid reaches his hand out, and Howie… Howie holds it gently, squeezes once before pulling away.
“I’m Ravi.”
***
Ravi's a teenager in a hospital. Howie's a probie trying to find his place. They meet in the middle.
