Summary
Forty minutes into her book signing, Pepper’s hand is cramping up. Seeing herself perfunctorily smiling back at her from cover after cover after cover, is getting at her. It isn’t often that she wishes for someone to interrupt and insist on a photo. Or for one of these large, heavy bookcases to topple over and fall on top of her.
The next woman who shuffles up to her table, book clutched in her arms, might just be her selfie-saving-grace. She certainly has the wild-eyed look of starstruck-ness. Pepper smiles and holds out a hand to take the book from her.
The woman doesn’t relinquish it. “Ms. Stark,” she murmurs in a low voice. “My nephew Peter ran away. And I need the Avengers to find him.”
Pepper knows how to respond to requests like these. Kind but firm. Thirteen thousand people go missing in New York every year, and it’s heartbreaking, but the Avengers can’t possibly—
“Trust me,” the woman says. “You’ll want to hear me out.”Bookmarked by smolpeteypie

Summary
Tony’s eye is drawn to one candidate in particular. A kid wearing a suit he looks so uncomfortable in that it’s shooting straight past comical to just heartbreakingly endearing. Chewing on the nail of his thumb, his knee bobbing up and down. Drops his pen, and then drops his clipboard when he bends down to pick up the pen.
“Call him in first.”

Or: Pepper is interviewing potential new interns, each one looking more nervous than the last. Including one pale but determined kid named Peter Parker. What he has to say is not at all what Tony had expected.
Spoiler alert: the kid doesn’t get the job.Series

you’re right, Stark phones are far superior
or is it just this particular one you gave meTony stares at his phone as the messages come in, and he narrows his eyes. He shifts a little on the couch, glances at Pepper.
“What?” she asks, catching his eye. She looks down at his phone. “What did Peter do?”
“Do I have a Peter face?” Tony asks. “Peter in danger expression?”
“I don’t know,” Pepper says. “Is he in danger?”
Tony sighs. “I hope not, but I’m—I’m not optimistic.”

Summary
"I programmed us friendship bracelets together." Tony suddenly seemed shy. "Any time I think about you or you think about me, we can tap the charm and the other person's piece will light up and then no matter how far away we are, we know we're thinking about each other."
Rhodey's mouth parted in surprise. "Tony--"
"I've never had a best friend." Tony's shoulders hunched. "I don't even know if I've ever had a real friend. And I dunno what you did in another life to deserve the bullshit that was me at fifteen years old, but you saved me and you're my best friend."
Softer, "I'm always going to be a robot tinkering, lab dwelling, gremlin but you’re going to be a hero. And when I see you on the news, I can tap right here," Rhodey's bracelet lit up, and Tony's smile wavered tremulous. "and you'll know I'm proud of you.”
"Tones." James yanked Tony into a long hug. "Thank you."
"It's a stupid gift, right?"
"Stop." James plonked a kiss in the middle of that ridiculous hair. "I'm gonna keep it forever."
"No you won't." Tony squirmed and blushed. "You don't have to."
"I'm going to wear this everyday."
"Rhodey! No you wont!"
"Fucking WATCH me."

Summary
What matters is that Steve only hates him 99% of the time now, and the other 1% of the time they laugh together and fight side by side and they’re friends.
Tony’s used to having to wring little bits of love out of people.
He can do it.

Bookmarker's Notes
It’s not that no one’s ever loved Tony. It’s just—
Maria explained it to him. Howard didn’t love like other people. He loved like lightning, in brief moments of brilliance. Sometimes he hurt you and sometimes he disappeared and sometimes he did more damage than good. But it’s just his nature, Tony. It’s just the sort of man he is. Everyone loves differently, Tony, and your father, he loves you so much, his love is so, so bright, that he can only show it for a few minutes at a time, or you’d both burn up.
Tony was going through a chemistry phase. “Like magnesium?”
His mother patted his head absently. “Sure, hun. Like magnesium.”
